Premium Exposed Aggregate Concrete Installations in Randburg
Subgrade Stabilization Experts
An exposed aggregate slab is only as resilient as the hidden engineering layers beneath it. We design custom crushed-stone sub-bases and integrate high-tensile steel reinforcing mesh (Ref 100 / Ref 193) specifically calculated to withstand Randburg’s weathered granite sub-bases, localized clay beds, and subterranean moisture channels, preventing cracking, buckling, and structural dropping over time.

Recent Technical Decorative Concrete Success Stories
The original paved entrance of this estate property had developed severe rutting and shifting due to poor base compaction over expansive clay subsoil. Our team excavated 350mm of clay soil, installed a heavy-duty compacted G5 base layer with Ref 100 steel mesh, and poured a continuous 110mm decorative aggregate slab with dark granite accents. The driveway has remained perfectly level under daily SUV traffic with zero weed growth or surface wear.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do I have to wait before driving my car onto a new exposed aggregate driveway?
While you can generally walk on the surface 24 hours after the final wash and seal, we recommend keeping all passenger vehicles and heavy SUVs off the new concrete slab for at least 7 to 10 days to allow the concrete to cure and reach its designed structural strength.
Does exposed aggregate require a lot of long-term maintenance in Randburg?
Is exposed aggregate rough on bare feet when walking around a pool or patio?
We control the stone exposure depth precisely using specialized surface retarders and fine washing techniques. This exposes the stones just enough to create an effective non-slip texture while keeping the surface comfortably rounded and smooth underfoot for bare feet.
Can exposed aggregate be poured over my existing old paving or cracked concrete slab?
We strongly advise against pouring fresh decorative concrete over existing paving or old cracked slabs. If the underlying base shifts or cracks further, those movements will transfer upward and fracture your new exposed aggregate surface. We completely excavate and remove old materials to construct a properly engineered, reinforced foundation from the ground up.
